Pierre Huguet, CEO and co-founder of college consulting firm H&C Education, says that every school’s financial aid offer is different, so you have to spend some time deciphering their offers.
“This means that you need to figure out which parts of your financial aid package are grants or scholarships, and which sections are either work-study, or federal, state, or private loans,” he says. “Pay careful attention to all the details in your financial aid offer—what looks like a generous offer can be a loan in disguise.”
